December 20th used to be the day we celebrated my cousin's birthday, it was the marking that there are only six months until my own birthday. It used to be just a day. But in 2009 that changed. My nephew was born, and died that day, and now it carries the heavy weight of grief. I can't express how I feel, only that it doesn't get better with time, you just adapt to the pain left behind. I can't buy him presents, or give him love...But I made this for him this year.... Sole Fida Bliss

Hello folks! It's been awhile a loooong while! Too long, I know. For the moment, I'll spare you the details and share with you my newest completed project (that's not a gift) PINK SANTA! Isn't he cute?  Right now he's hanging in front of my calendar (The purple numbers are the days left until my Dad comes home. 20 as of today :D) I will probably try and sneak him onto my mom's tree when I'm done posting here. Scones! My newest addiction...I'm in love with making them, they are SO easy (this is my 2nd batch the first...well they didn't turn out so well lol)  Hi everyone!  There has been a lot going on in my life, but then again, from some perpspectives not a lot.  So...awhile ago, my dad had to get rid of this nest of hornets...cause they are dangerous. Well he 'lulled' the nasty critters and my mom and I took the opportunity to take photos!  Yo! How are all you guys and gals (gals and guys?) I'm doing good...trying to dream away this summer heat though. So I made fingerless gloves! With my double knit Special by Stylecraft.  I personally hate gloves with fingers. Because the fingers are either too long or too short, never just right. Fun right?  So when I started getting back into crochet one of the first things I made were fingerless gloves. But, last winter, I sort of ruined the only pair I had made for myself by using them to scrap ice off of my car during the Ice storm in Dallas. Like the sneak peak of my dad's afghan? So I made another pair! I like this pair better because I like the yarn better. I don't know if they'll be warm enough yet, because it's not cold and I can't test them. But they work great otherwise, they fit and I can still type and crochet with them. Woo!! Sola Fide Bliss

Guys! You have NO idea how stupidly proud of this afghan I am. It's the first full sized one I've made and oh my goodness was it a PAIN in the hiney to work on.  As you see I started with blocks and then went in rounds, and then added more blocks. That was NOT the best of ideas...trust me don't do it!! But by the time I realized it wouldn't work I had made all those smaller blocks...I had to frog and add until I could make them work. xD  Then I did more rounds...but it wasn't get long enough!!! So I went from rounds to back and forth rows. I did ten on each end, and then a couple more rounds and by that point it was plenty wide enough and I was running out of yarn. So more back and forth it was! I thought I was never going to finish it in time for my dad's birthday (July 11th). But I did!!! I was a day early in fact..and I breathed the BIGGEST sigh of relief when I finished it I promise you.    It took roughly 2 months, with a few other projects betwee

So, I've been doing the Stitch-cation hosted by The Crochet Crowd and this is my progress so far! I'm using "I love this yarn" And a 4.25mm crochet hook.  Unique Granny Square 1 Back loops square 1 Popcorn stitch 1 Double crochet slip stitch 1 Backloops only 2 Treble front post 1 Unique Granny Square All 7 together so far! Botched back loop only block. It was WAY smaller than it needed to be. xD  Sola Fide Bliss
