Grow Your Blog + Updates and Things

Image
Hi!! How is everyone!? I feel like it's been ages since I wrote a post here (though it really hasn't been THAT long)  This post will serve two purposes. First, my Grow your Blog post (which is a blog party hosted by Vikki from 2 Bags Full ) and secondly to help update my active readers with all the details on my life and crafting of late!  If this is your first time visiting; Welcome! I'm glad you stopped by and I hope you like my blog enough to stay for a bit.  Crafty things first!!  Up first for our lineup today is my Viking Helmet! My friend, Ken, is a viking nut, he likes all things historical but he has a fondness for viking things. So when I found a pattern that I liked , I knew I HAD to make it for him. It was a little difficult at first, but once I figured out how it was all supposed to go together I managed to pull it off.  And as you can see Ken just loved it. A sidenote: Ken, his wife and I have been friends for e...

Afghans

I've started a new one! I'm using Redheart unforgettable boutique yarn, double stranded to make this one. I had three skeins hanging around so I thought I'd do some mindless crocheting with it.  I liked it SO much that I went ahead and bought a TON (18) Skeins from Joann's when I caught them on sale. Hopefully that will be enough, but if it's not...then I will buy more! And do you remember this stack of squares? I finally put them all together in November to create this afghan: I'm like, crazy proud of this one too. It took ages! I ended up giving it to my mom's sister for her birthday. She needed a handmade hug. I can't wait to work on another one...I kind of want to make one for my best friend for Christmas next year, but we'll see.  I managed to start and complete, 5 (FIVE!?) Afghan's in 2014...I think that's quiet a feat...don't you?  Let's rehash! In February http://crochet-bliss....

War Eagle!

My sister asked me to help her out and make her a glove and scarf set for a coworker of hers, in the Auburn college football team colors and of course I had no problem doing that since I had the extra time! (even though I am not a very big fan of orange)  I made the gloves first and I think they turned out pretty well.  Made with Redheart Love yarn Then I moved onto the scarf....First I attempted to Knit it.....  But I didn't like the way it looked at all...the doubled stranded mixed look isn't one that I'm a fan of. So I frogged it and started over in crochet. It's still worked with double strands, but I used the same colors, and I think it turned out much better. it's a nice length and it's very thick and warm. :D
